Kunlavut Vitidsarn: What's his Childhood Story?
Badminton helped Kunlavut in his triumphant battle against health challenges. He suffered from severe nasal allergies, which led him to the hospital every few weeks. However, when he started training for badminton at seven, his health showed improvements. His father was a coach who introduced him to the sport and encouraged him to join the Bangthongyord Badminton School.
He was part of the Mixed team that won the bronze at the World Junior Championships in 2016. Kunlavut won a bronze medal at the Boys' Singles Asian Junior Championships in 2017. The following year, he won a silver in the same category and a gold in 2019. Kunlavut was also a three-time World Junior champion, winning in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Vitidsarn secured the silver medal in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics as a part of the mixed team representing Thailand. He also won several BWF international challenge titles in 2019 and his first BWF world tour title in 2022 with the German Open against Lakshya Sen.
He won the silver medal at the 2022 World Championships held in Tokyo by losing a match to Viktor Axelsen. This year, he won the final to secure the gold medal at the 2023 World Championships.
Kunlavut is going strong in 2024 winning bronze at several important championships. His Olympic silver medal was the first for the Thai national badminton team.
